One of the more useful new features in the various 2013 editions of Sage 50 is the ability to perform an account reconciliation without having to change the accounting period.
Prior to 2013 editions, if you wanted to perform an account reconciliation for April 30, 2012 and your database was in the May 2012 period, you had to have all users close out of the software, change the period back to April 30, 2012, perform the account reconciliation, change the period back to May and then tell all users they could go back into the software again.
Now, if you want to perform the April 30, 2012 account reconciliation and you are in the May period, all you have to do is indicate in the account reconciliation task window that the statement date is April 30, 2012.
Now here’s the “gotcha”: If you print any of the account reconciliation reports, they will always default to the current period, in this case May 31, 2012. You must manually change the date in the report options screen to April 30, 2012.
We know that this sounds logical, but we have had several support calls telling us the account reconciliation report is incorrect.
